The Adactus Housing Neighbourhood Fund has recently granted funding to the hugely successful Windrush 66 event which took place over the weekend at Preston Cricket Club. The event attracted over 120 families from the Preston area and celebrated 66 years of the black and Caribbean community in the city.  The event was so named as the first black settler arrived on the ship Empire Windrush exactly 66 years ago. Following on from the recent  success of round 1 of the Trafford Neighbourhood fund, round 2 is now open for new bids, maximum applications £1,000.  Trafford residents were recently allocated their own pot of funding for the Adactus Neighbourhood Fund and met for the first time as a Trafford only Panel. Seven Adactus judges faced some tough decisions as they sifted through numerous Neighbourhood Fund applications to carefully select the successful 12 winning projects. Thanks to help from the Adactus Neighbourhood Fund, green-fingered residents at Glenmay Court can now enjoy growing seeds and plants in their new greenhouse. Patrick Byrne who lives at Glenmay said ‘we are so pleased with the new greenhouse and are all looking forward to growing our own produce during the summer months.’ Anne Corrigan from Adactus said, the residents have worked really hard to get the greenhouse project off the ground – literally! On Wednesday, the Adactus500 scrutiny panel on damp and condensation met in Leigh for a final time to finish their scrutiny exercise. The main purpose of the final meeting was to give scrutiny panel members the opportunity to look in detail at the final report produced by our internal affairs team, consider the recommendations, and add their own recommendations too.  They also got the opportunity to talk through ideas on how to improve the inspection visits with Jamie Weston, Assistand Director of Asset Management. The Adactus Housing Neighbourhood Fund has recently granted funding to the Clitheroe Youth Forum for healthy, positive and challenging activities which will take place over the summer holidays The project will see young people develop their artistic and musical skills with guitar and other lessons.  They will also have the chance to go camping and fishing.  The activities will help build self confidence, social skills and also give them the chance to learn new life skills.
