Sheltered residents are happily reliving the swinging 60’s thanks to a new karaoke machine.  Residents at Eliot Gardens were recently awarded funding from AHA’s Neighbourhood Fund to purchase a new karaoke machine and a set of their favourite 60’s tracks. The new equipment has been a number one hit and the singing sensations have been able to try out their favourite songs at a recent Halloween party. Residents from Maclaren Walk and Makepeace Drive in Crumpsall collected and donated food to support world food day, which took place on Wednesday 16th October. Maclaren Walk and Makepeace Drive tenants and residents association (MACMAKE) collected non-perishable items to be donated to local organisations in North Manchester that support those in the community who might be struggling at this time of the year. Following a very successful first round of the Adactus Neighbourhood fund, 75 projects across Manchester, Trafford and Cheshire have been successful in gaining financial support to the tune of £78,000 in 2013/14. The fund, handed out by a judging panel made up of Adactus residents has £9,000 still available for community projects. Individuals, resident groups, community groups, charitable organisations or social enterprises, working in areas where Adactus manage homes, are now invited to apply for the remaining funds.  For this …

The Keeley Close Gardening Club won a Gold Award in the prestigious North West In Bloom awards ceremony in Southport on Wednesday the 23rd October. Keeley Close is an Adactus housing scheme for people aged over 45 and is based in Newton Heath. The gardens have undergone an amazing transformation over the last 3 years with the gardening club progressing through the levels of In Bloom awards culminating in the highest award on the 23rd. Adactus Housing Group’s property services department took a unique approach to their departmental away day on Friday the 18th October. Rather than the usual team building activities the Head of Property Services, Gary Heaton decided to take a ‘Ground Force’ approach and blitz a neglected and unkempt piece of land next to Adactus sheltered scheme, Victoria Court in Openshaw, East Manchester.
