The largest award made from the 2010 Adactus Housing Association Neighbourhood Fund grant was for £5,000 to Manchester Active Voices (MAV). Both North and South Manchester Area Panels jointly funded a 4 days Residential Leadership programme for 10 young people from Manchester in Cumbria. The Youth Empowerment Residential Programme which ran in July 2011, teaches young people the skills and resources they need to become effective leaders in their communities. Housing services in Miles Platting are getting better. That’s the message from Manchester City Council tenants after a survey revealed that 9 out of 10 tenants are satisfied with the service they get. The 1,500 homes are managed by the Renaissance Consortium on behalf of Manchester City Council. More than fifty people attended a community event at Adactus Housing Association’s new housing development at Durham Street, Whelley, Wigan designed to help residents become good neighbours. Children’s games, face painting and a healthy eating stall were all on offer as Adactus staff met with local residents to get their views on drawing up a good neighbour agreement for the area. This month’s blog is a personal message about the dangers we all face when trying to save the environment. I cycle to and from work every day.
