hulme talking - hulme's free wired-up community

Adactus Estate residents in Hulme are promoting the use of an online forum 'Hulme Talking' to increase communication between residents of their estate, and to link their estate to people and events in the wider Hulme community.

Residents who use the website have quickly made many new friends across Hulme, and been able to obtain information, help and support over local issues such as parking problems, fly-tipping, and their
campaign to save a local footpath which links the Hulme Adactus estate to Oxford Rd and the City Centre.

The e-group promotes FREE communication between residents, Housing Associations, Developers and Builders, Voluntary Organisations, Elected Representatives, The Police, Public Agencies and their officials, and Managing Agents.

Anybody can read the messages posted on the group, and to date there have been over 17,000 messages posted, and over 100,000 visits to the site. If you 'join' you will be given a FREE yahoo e-mail account which permits you to post messages onto the group and send emails to individuals who are members. As Local Representatives are members this is an easy way to contact your City Councillors. The Police are also members, so you can quickly contact the local community policing team, and keep updated on crime reports in the local area.

With your finger on the pulse of Hulme life you will be better informed and empowered to get local problems SORTED! This is a powerful way to build a better community.
